Cool Kids/Chilled Program for Anxiety
The Cool Kids Groups for child anxiety are child groups that have been extensively evaluated by researchers at Macquarie University and worldwide. Typically 8 weeks long, this is a structured, skills-based program for anxiety that teaches children and their parents how to better manage childhood anxiety disorders.
The Cool Kids courses involve the participation of both children and their parents, and focus on teaching clear and practical skills to manage and reduce anxiety. The program has undergone continual scientific evaluation and development to include the latest understanding of anxiety and its treatment.
Most young people who complete the Cool Kids programs show significant improvement. Following treatment, there are marked increases in school attendance, academic achievement, confidence, number of friends and involvement in extra-curricular activities and decreases in worry, shyness, fear and family distress.
There are different groups available for younger children (Cool Little Kids), primary school children (Cool Kids) and older children (Chilled).
